Sunday Sketchces: wedding delight

Good morning, my lovely peeps! I'm terribly sorry this is late getting up. I meant to schedule this on Friday with everything going on and (obviously) forgot. My step-daughter, Rachel, had her beautiful wedding yesterday up in the mountains. We're looking forward to sharing some photos but until then, please enjoy this little doodle I painted in memory of her wedding day. xx

Sunday Sketches: Dreaming of Hedgehogs

It's been a long sketching journey this past week, pushing through about 30 illustrations for a very special and upcoming children's book to be released this Autumn. I'm quite eager to share more details but alas, it's hush-hush for now. However, it will be worth the wait, let me tell you!

Along with this work, I've been developing a new character for another upcoming children's book about a special Hedgehog family. Above is what I've landed on for the dad. Isn't he the cutest? I'd love to hear what comes to mind when you picture a tiny hedgehog family in your mind. How fun would that be - helping muwah develop characters for one of her books?! So, let me hear your ideas! :)

Now, let me grab my hot cuppa and venture off into blogging-land to see what everyone else has been up to. Happy Sunday Sketches!

Sunday Sketches: Portable JOY

As I was painting these darling fellas above, feelings of happiness and joy oozed from my heart. I was quickly reminded of a quote I had heard awhile ago - "JOY is portable so bring it with you wherever you go".  Think about it. We can take joy wherever we go! Uh huh.

For example, I feel so many feelings of joy in my studio here at home when doodling and painting but that doesn't mean I have to leave it there. At least once a week, I take my studio "on the go" to simply get out for a few hours...and I take that joy with me. The best thing is not only do I feel it but others around me see it, and soon gather around to watch me paint. There's no greater joy than knowing I'm blessings complete strangers by carrying my own joy with me wherever I go.

You can do the same, regardless of what brings you joy. It's truly portable and can be taken anywhere and everywhere you go.  I don't know about you but that is pretty exciting to me. :)

Sunday Sketches....garden love

Good morning! This pretty little gal realized that it's Sunday! Oh dear me. With Mr. Toast home the past several days for the holidays, I completely lost track of what day it is. Hee Hee

Here's a little warm-up from a few days ago. I've been trying to practice my floral style with wildflowers in the area. These, however, are from a sweet friend's garden. There's been no shortage of flowers in our home lately and I love it!

I'll be back soon to visit everyone and see how your holiday time with friends and family has been.
